Miguel here. Hi!
Welcome to MigaBytes.
I'm an Electrical Engineer turned Software Developer and MigaBytes is my place to put things I've learned so I don't forget them.
Expect posts about setting up my HomeLab, the software I build and maybe even a lit bit of carpentry here and there.

About the Author
I am a professional Software Engineer currently plying my trade as an Engineering Manager at hospitality scale-up me&u where I run the team focussed on Point of Sale Integrations, Menu Management and Printing.
I am passionate about the developer experience, always trying to build tools and processes that allow my teams to ship well tested, battle-ready code that is easy to maintain.
My main language is TypeScript within the Node.js ecosystem. In the distant past I have built web products in PHP and vanilla JS/HTML/CSS as well as embedded software for microcontrollers in hardware products in C/C++.
I have skewed back-end in my professional career but I have experience solo developing entire products end-to-end, and recently I have started to manage and write end-to-end projects again.

Bringing the Mr Yum (now me&u) technology into the South African market
Role History
Myself and my co-founders put together a team to bring the Mr Yum product into the South African market during the Covid19 pandemic, where restaurants suddenly needed robust online ordering.
My role was to integrate into local PSPs that supported South African payments, integrate into local Point of Sale systems, build a scalable payout solution and do some ad-hoc localisation where we found gaps.
